Taylor Swift had fans laughing when she shared a hilarious moment from her Eras Tour. During her October 8 interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Swift revealed that her fiancé, Travis Kelce, once mistook Hugh Grant’s wife, Anna Eberstein, for filmmaker Greta Gerwig.
The mix-up happened in June 2024 at Swift’s second Eras Tour show in London. Kelce met Grant and Eberstein in the VIP tent and, thinking Eberstein was Gerwig, praised her for directing Barbie. He even made an “I’m just Ken” joke while pointing at Swift—completely unaware of the mistake.
After the show, Kelce told Swift he had a great time and met lots of celebrities, including Grant. But when Swift noticed Gerwig didn’t respond to the joke, she assumed the director had simply heard it too many times. Kelce then explained that “Gerwig” and Grant were dancing closely and seemed to have inside jokes, leading him to believe they were working on a movie together. “They kind of seem like soulmates,” he told Swift.
Later, Swift saw videos of Kelce dancing with the woman he thought was Gerwig. When she pointed it out, Kelce replied, “Oh, that’s not Greta.” Swift realized he had confused Eberstein for the famous director. Seth Meyers joked, “The good thing is he recognized true love.”
Hugh Grant had previously praised Swift’s show and called Kelce an “excellent if gigantic boyfriend” in a tweet. Swift responded by calling herself a longtime Hugh Grant “stan,” saying his message was “very important to my culture.”
The story added a playful twist to Swift’s ongoing Eras Tour and her recent album release, The Life of a Showgirl, which dropped on October 3.
