Taylor Swift recently shared sweet details about her engagement to NFL star Travis Kelce during her appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on October 6. The pop superstar, who just released her new album The Life of a Showgirl, told Jimmy that Travis had her engagement ring for a long time before he proposed. “He designed it with a jeweler,” Taylor said. “It’s beautiful—even the sides are pretty!”

She smiled and added, “I look at it all the time. It doesn’t feel normal to me. He’s my favorite person I’ve ever met. No offense to anyone else, but the fact that I get to hang out with him every day forever—that’s what this ring means to me.” Jimmy asked if Travis proposed after they recorded his podcast New Heights, where Taylor’s album was announced. Taylor said yes—and explained that Travis used the podcast as a clever distraction.
“He put blackout curtains on all the windows so I couldn’t see the backyard,” she said. “I thought he was just being serious about the podcast, but he was actually setting up the proposal outside.” After the recording, Travis asked Taylor if she wanted to walk around the backyard with a glass of wine. “I’m always going to say yes to that,” she laughed. “Then I realized why the windows were covered and why he was nervous. It was the best surprise.”

Jimmy then showed a photo of the backyard, filled with flowers. “He turned it into a secret garden,” Taylor said with a big smile. Taylor also talked about attending her best friend Selena Gomez’s wedding to music producer Benny Blanco on September 27. She made a speech at the wedding but said she didn’t mention her own engagement.
“I made a point not to talk about myself,” Taylor said. “No one wants you to be like, ‘Hey, I know this is your wedding day but—’” she joked, pretending to flash her ring. Instead, she talked about how she and Selena met in 2008 and laughed about their fashion choices back then. “Selena wore long tank tops, tiny vests, and Chucks. I looked like I was late for a cowboy-themed prom,” she joked.
Taylor’s appearance on The Tonight Show was her first since 2022. Her new album The Life of a Showgirl broke Spotify’s record for the most-streamed album in a single day in 2025. “I’m so proud to share this with you,” she wrote on Instagram. “If you thought the big show was wild, maybe you should take a look behind the curtain…”
