Real Housewives of Potomac stars Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband Eddie Osefo are back home after being arrested on October 9 in Westminster, Maryland. The couple is facing 16 fraud-related charges, including seven felony counts tied to allegedly false insurance claims.
A representative for the couple told PEOPLE on October 10, “Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Edward Osefo, are back home safely with their family and in good spirits. They are grateful for the outpouring of concern and support from friends, fans, and colleagues.” The statement added that the couple is “looking forward to their day in court” and asked for privacy as they focus on their family and legal matters.
The charges stem from an April 2024 report of burglary and theft at their home. Wendy and Eddie claimed over $200,000 worth of items—including jewelry, luxury clothing, and shoes—were stolen while they were on vacation. However, investigators later found that more than $20,000 worth of those items had been returned to stores, and photos surfaced showing Wendy wearing jewelry that had been reported stolen after the alleged break-in.
Prosecutors also allege the couple filed a $450,000 insurance claim for personal property loss. Both were released on bond on October 10. Wendy, 41, and Eddie joined RHOP in season 5 and are parents to three children: Karter (12), Kruz (10), and Kamrynn (6). They recently celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary in August.
Wendy is a former professor at Johns Hopkins University and a regular contributor on cable news. She holds a doctorate in Public Affairs-Community Development from Rutgers University and is known for her academic and media work. Eddie is an attorney and the founder of the cannabis brand Happy Eddie.
The couple was set to appear in Bravo’s upcoming series Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition, but the premiere has been delayed from October 14 to October 21. Wendy’s episode will no longer be the first to air.
The Real Housewives of Potomac continues Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
