Katy Perry is showing support for Taylor Swift’s new album Life of a Showgirl, which came out on October 3. On Instagram, Katy shared that she’s listening to the song “Eldest Daughter” — even though she’s actually a middle child herself.
This sweet moment comes years after the two pop stars had a public feud. They became friends again in 2019 and have been friendly ever since. Katy even went to Taylor’s Eras Tour concert in March 2024 and posted happy photos from backstage, including a selfie with Taylor. She wrote, “Got to see an old friend shine tonight ♥️✨.”
Back in 2020, Katy explained why she and Taylor decided to make peace. She said they wanted to be a good example for young fans and show that people can forgive and move forward. “Gossip travels fast, but the truth takes time,” Katy said. She added that the media made their fight seem worse than it really was, and now they’re “super friendly.”
Their friendship became public again when Katy appeared in Taylor’s “You Need to Calm Down” music video in 2019. Katy wore a burger costume and Taylor dressed as fries — a fun way to show they were back on good terms.
Katy also shared that she once sent Taylor an actual olive branch during her Reputation tour to say sorry and start fresh. After that, they began talking more and realized they had a lot in common. “We should really be friends,” Katy said, “and help each other through the hard stuff.”
Taylor’s album Life of a Showgirl broke records on Spotify, becoming the most-streamed album in a single day this year — all in less than 11 hours.
Now, with Katy Perry streaming Taylor’s music and cheering her on, it’s clear their friendship is stronger than ever.
