Dolly Parton’s sister, Freida Parton, has asked fans around the world to pray for the country music icon. On October 7, Freida posted a heartfelt message on Facebook, saying she was “up all night praying” for Dolly, who recently postponed her Las Vegas shows due to health problems. “I truly believe in the power of prayer,” Freida wrote. “I’ve been led to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me.”
Dolly, 79, announced on September 28 that she would delay her Las Vegas residency until September 2026. She explained that she’s facing “health challenges” and needs to have a few medical procedures. In her usual playful style, Dolly joked, “It must be time for my 100,000 check-up,” but added seriously, “I want to be at my best for you. You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to give you the show you deserve.”
Freida’s message was full of love and hope. She ended her post with a heart emoji and wrote, “She’s strong, she’s loved, and with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine. Godspeed, my sissy Dolly. We all love you!” The post touched many fans, who responded with messages of support and prayers.
This health update comes during a tough year for Dolly. In March, she shared the heartbreaking news that her husband of 58 years, Carl Dean, had passed away at the age of 82. The couple had a famously private relationship, and his death was a deep loss for Dolly and her family.
Dolly was supposed to perform at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas starting in December. It would have been her first long-term show in the city in over 30 years. Now, the residency is planned to begin in September 2026, giving her time to rest and recover.
Even though she’s taking a break, Dolly made it clear she’s not retiring. “Don’t worry about me quittin’ the business,” she wrote. “God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet. But I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you.” Her fans—and her sister—are standing by her, sending love and prayers as she heals.
